Saran Vel Jayaraman: Building a global healthcare and wellness ecosystem driven by empowerment and trust

Saran Vel Jayaraman’s entrepreneurial journey began with a strong desire for independence, problem solving and creating something of his own. In 2001, he took his first step into entrepreneurship by founding STC Technologies, a software and technology company. Those early years taught him how to build teams, understand customers, manage resources, take calculated risks and make decisions without having a ready made roadmap.
In 2004, Saran entered the hair restoration industry with MAX Hair Clinic, at a time when hair transplantation was still an emerging and specialised category in India. He saw an opportunity to bring greater professionalism, structure and accessibility to the field while building a brand around trust and quality. MAX Hair Clinic later became the foundation for Advanced GroHair & GloSkin Clinic, which has grown into a globally expanding hair and skin clinic network with more than 200 clinics.
Today, his business ecosystem spans healthcare, hair restoration, aesthetics, skin care, wellness, education, personal care, technology, media and other ventures. His portfolio includes MAX Hair Clinic, Advanced GroHair & GloSkin Clinic, MINUS Slimming Clinic, Dr. EduMed and 1My Pro Personal Care. His international presence extends across Australia, Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore, the UAE, Sri Lanka and other markets.
The journey has not been without challenges. Saran had to build credibility in industries where there was no established blueprint to follow. In hair restoration, consumer awareness was still developing and trust had to be earned one client at a time. His experience taught him that resilience, adaptability and continuous learning are needed to build businesses that last.

Leadership, for Saran, is built around ownership, accountability, empowerment and trust. As his organisations grew across businesses and countries, his role shifted towards developing capable leaders who can make decisions and take responsibility. His philosophy is simple: “A leader’s responsibility is to create clarity, build capable teams and give people enough ownership to make decisions.”
His next phase includes global expansion, deeper technology integration, AI, advanced diagnostics, personalised care and professional education. Yet his definition of success goes beyond business numbers. He wants his ventures to create careers, entrepreneurs and opportunities for others. As he puts it, “Don’t measure your success only by how high you have climbed. Measure it by how many people you have helped climb with you.”
